Large Live-Edge Coffee Table
The old piece of oak destined for the firewood pile has been carefully restored. I was amazed at the beauty and character of the wood after hours of working with it. The table took significant time, way to wide to fit through my planer, it was hand planed, hand sanded, and each butterfly joint was hand cut and chiseled into place. The butterflies are each unique and make of red oak, osage orange and other wood. The cracks, holes, and imperfections in this piece of amazing wood is what makes the table so special. The undercarriage of the table is made of cast iron and aluminum pipes, providing a solid and strong base. We finished the table with with natural linseed oil and pine resin, a mixture that really brings out the color and beauty of the wood. The finish hardens into a natural sheen providing protection for the surface.
